Inaugral Bald Golf Day
Written by Stephen Espenschied
The first ever Bald Golf Day was held at Flinders Victoria.
Leading the enthusiastic throng of bald guys to the first tee was Rohan Robinson, former national 400m hurdles champion and Junior World Champion.
The game was played on a picture perfect 33 degrees at the seaside course and was by all accounts a successful day. The game was played as a mix of Stableford and a debauched bald man scoring system dreamed up over quite a few beers and a couiple of late nights.
The game itself generated articles in Golf Australia magazine (not bad for predominantly a bunch of hacks) the Sydney games the following year and the Today show did a covering story on it.
The winner of the John Ferrier Trophy was Dick Hill (a non bald guy mind you) and the biggest contravener of any golfing ettiqute on the day was Bill Monaghan.
