COUNTDOWN TO NEXT LBHM EVENT: Contact

About the League

As you would have noticed on the entry page, the League celebrates and embraces baldness as a fact of life. It riles at the portrayed images spawned by the hair restoration industry in its attempt to support some notion that baldness breeds a lack of confidence and attractiveness. A self-fulfilling prophecy is blatantly wrong when its perpetuation is simply for commercial gain and nothing else.

Therefore, the League of Bald Headed Men is here to provide the circuit breaker. It is here to create a new and more realistic self-concept for bald guys. That is, being in a state of baldness is more probable than not in most men's lives. It is genetic fate and even though it may be more difficult to deal with the younger you are, it actually looks fantastic if you simply accept it. Why? Because you portray a confidence in who you are rather than being embarrassed and hiding behind something as shallow and superficial as a rug or quick fix. Self-acceptance, belief and confidence in yourself is critical in imbuing the same feeling in others.

However, it always easier if you are also receiving some positive feedback from others such as those in the League. As all members in the League are of various ages, most have been through the initial stages of disbelief and denial when first losing their ahair. Most will also tell you that the quicker you can accept your fate, the less the unnecessary anguish and lost finances (so often thrown at questionable remedies). The true believers have reached the nirvana of joy or pride where they actually rejoice in a completely bald head, more often than not shaving (rather than combing over) the remnants. I thank god Michael Jordan was around when I lost my hair and thank god Kevin Bartlett (footballs comb over king) was not running around at that time. Sure, we are all vain to some extent but notions of beauty have always been subject to the moray of cultural values built up over years. Unfortunately today, the media plays a large part in dictating these values and those with the money have a say in shaping these perceptions and values. The league aims to continue the facilitation of these values changing so that a bald head is ultimately seen for what it truly is - an irrelevancy just like hair is to the beauty and value of an individual.

Most middle aged and older League members already understand this. To be able to mix with younger members in a social and fun environment helps to overtly state to those hairy people we love who we are. New and unusual events are also a cornerstone of the League. From golf days to balls, the League aims to put itself in the public spotlight, to the point that membership is even envied by those outside its obvious requirements for entry. The League is not simply a web based forum but an opportunity to actively participate when and where you so desire. It aims to be quirky and entertaining. Aspects and further features will be added to the web site in the near future.

The league has actually identified a psychology of hair loss which nearly all men in a state of balding pass through. It is actually very much like the grieving process. Remember, the hair restoration industry feeds of these insecurities in the initial hair loss stages, just like parasites. Try not to feed them. ...................................................................................................

The League therefore aims to:

  • Celebrate baldness no matter what the age of the person.

  • Support any bald person who is feeling negative about their loss in their journey to acceptance.

  • To promote hair loss as a perfectly natural occurrence and foster positive self-concepts.

  • To promote that a bald head can look good if you wear it with pride and don't try to hide it.

  • To provide entertaining social experiences and the resultant social networks and for those who have shared the emotions of hair loss.

  • To promote a bald sub culture that only other bald men understand and non-bald people would like to be part of.

  • To provide relevant, topical and entertaining information to its members.

  • To assist in any business networks amongst its members.
